Taka Momii founded MOMII
& ASSOCIATES in May 2003. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree
in polymer engineering and science in 1987 and a Master of Science
degree in polymer engineering and science in 1989 both from Tokyo
Institute of Technology. He was admitted to practice before the
Japan Patent Office in 2001. Taka was a research engineer at KANEKA
Corporation from 1989-1993. Then, he was working for Shusaku Yamamoto
Patent Firm from 1994-1998, where he experienced a variety of international
IP jobs. In 1996-1997, he was sent to Renner, Otto, Boisselle and
Sklar LLP in Cleveland Ohio where he was trained US patent practice.
Taka also worked for Onkyo Corporation as a senior patent counsel
from 1998-2003 where he was responsible for all of the IP matters.
His practice focuses on drafting and prosecuting patent applications
and representing Inter Partes cases in almost all aspects of chemical-related
technologies such as polymer engineering and science, organic and
inorganic chemistry, material science, electronic component, nanotechnology,
consumer products, and medical device. |

Masa is a specialist in
chemistry. He obtained a Bachelor of Engineering in 1988 and a
Master of Engineering in 1990 from Kyoto University. Then he proceeded
to a doctoral course at Kyoto University and got a Ph.D. in 1993
in the field of physical organic chemistry. Masa was affiliated
with Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. from 1993-1998 where he conducted research
on polymer science at polymers laboratory. From 1995-1997, he was
dispatched to University of Iowa, USA as a postdoctoral fellow
with the object to digging up a new subject of research on polymer
science. During his stay in USA for two years, he acquired an international
way of thinking.
The fruits of Masa’s research work from 1987-1998 can be seen
in many publications such as the following for instance: |
Yoshida, M.; Kurihara, Y.; Takeuchi, K. Synth. Commun. 1990,
20, 3529.
Yoshida, M.; Mitsuhashi, K.; Kimura, T.; Takeuchi, K.; Fukuyo,
E.; Yanagi, K. Chem. Lett. 1992, 1771.
Yoshida, M.; Takeuchi, K. J. Org. Chem. 1993, 58, 2566.
Yoshida, M.; Crowther, D. J.; Jordan, R. F. Organometallics
1997, 16, 1349.

Masa was then working for Matsumoto and Associate from 1998-2004
where he trained himself on domestic and international IP practice
such as drafting and proceeding of application, correspondence
to official action, inter partes case, and so on . He was admitted
to a patent attorney’s practice before the Japan Patent Office
in December 2001.
Masa can handle almost all IP matters in most of technical fields
concerned with chemistry, especially in organic chemistry such
as synthetic chemistry and organometallic chemistry, inorganic
chemistry such as catalytic chemistry, and polymer chemistry such
as material science. |
