Takafumi MOMII

Takafumi MOMII (Patent Attorney)

Takafumi Momii is a founder of MOMII & ASSOCIATES. He founded the firm in May 2003. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in polymer engineering and science in 1987 and a Master of Science degree in polymer engineering and science in 1989 both from Tokyo Institute of Technology. He was admitted to practice before the Japan Patent Office in 2001. Mr. Momii was a research engineer at KANEKA Corporation from 1989-1993, where he was engaged in a very basic research regarding a structure-physical property relationship of the commercially very important product of the company. Then, Mr. Momii joined an intellectual property field and worked for Shusaku Yamamoto Patent Firm from 1994-1998. At that firm, he has experienced virtually all aspects of patent works both for Japanese and foreign county’s clients. In 1996-1997, he was dispatched to Renner, Otto, Boisselle and Sklar LLP in Cleveland Ohio where he was not only trained US patent practice but also had great experience to understand cultural and linguistic difference. Based on the experience in Yamamoto firm, Mr. Momii is one of the most experienced patent attorneys who can handle patent applications from Europe or USA to Japan. Mr. Momii also worked for Onkyo Corporation as a senior patent counsel from 1998-2003 where he was responsible for all of the intellectual property matters.

His practice focuses on patent drafting and prosecution, defending or challenging patents against the third party, as well as providing opinion regarding infringement, validity and freedom to operate. He has worked in the field of polymer, rubber, adhesive, paint and coatings, semiconductor, metal, basic organic and inorganic chemistry, electronic component and device, display device, optics, pharmacy, daily-use product, and medical device.

Masayasu Masayasu YOSHIDA Ph.D

Masayasu YOSHIDA Ph.D(Patent Attorney)

Dr. Yoshida is a specialist in chemistry. He obtained a Bachelor of Engineering in 1988 and a Master of Engineering in 1990 from Kyoto University. Then he proceeded to a doctoral course at Kyoto University and received a Ph.D. in 1993 in the field of physical organic chemistry. Dr. Yoshida was affiliated with Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. from 1993-1998 where he conducted research on polymer science at polymers laboratory. From 1995-1997, he was dispatched to University of Iowa, USA as a postdoctoral fellow with the object to digging up a new subject of research on polymer science.

Dr. Yoshida then worked for Matsumoto and Associate from 1998-2004 where he trained himself on domestic and international IP practice including drafting and proceeding of application, responding to official action, and various appeals. He was admitted to practice before the Japan Patent Office in 2001.

Dr. Yoshida can cover virtually all aspects of chemistry such as organic and inorganic chemistry, material science and pharmacy.
